Exclusive Viewing of Oday Shakar

2017 kicked off with a big fashion bang with Oday Shakar showing his Spring collection right here in the Valley. The venue was absolutely stunning with black and white checkered flooring (also doubled as our runway) cocktails, a view of Camelback Mountain and of course an amazing guest list.

The Oday Shakar spring collection was something out of Khaleesi’s own private collection. It was the perfect balance of strength and romance from immaculately tailored leather bodices to free flowing high-waisted skirts. I truly felt like I was about to be swooped up by my dragons and overthrow King’s Landing – I mean seriously someone needs to call up Emilia Clarke to let her know we have found her next outfit!

Oday’s collection was simply stunning and there was no surprise how quickly the pieces were selling! I was so lucky to be selected as a model for the exclusive show put on by the always wonderful Merritt Productions, and I’m finally here to give a little look behind-the-scenes of the show.

Heavy Metal Jacket

A leather jacket is a true closet staple. Unfortunately for me, I lost mine last spring so I have been on the hunt for a new one. After months of searching with no real luck, I stumbled into Zara where I found exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for.

This season I’m trying a new bold look in a metallic silver leather jacket! Truly obsessed!

Emphatics: The behind the scenes look

I was recently lucky enough to have been asked to be a part of a special project showcasing the most amazing clothing collection featuring some major designers. The shoot was inspired by the 80’s woman. With diva attitude that only Iman could carry and shoulder pads up to your ears how could you not love the 80’s? The woman of the 80’s had strength (you could see it in her power suits) style, and plenty of character. We were lucky enough to embody these women today and all the while doing so while wearing some of the most fabulous pieces of runway-ready clothing.

If names such as McQueen or Galliano means anything to you, or maybe you are just dying to revisit the  awesomeness that was the 80’s, than I highly recommend catching a glimpse of this glamour collection. The Emphatics installation will soon be featured in the Phoenix Art Museum so watch out for updates!

A day in ETRO

9:00 A.M. and my Uber driver calls to let me know he’s outside waiting. With only my ASU backpack and vintage Dooney & Bourke in tow, I prefer to travel light, I make my way to the airport to catch my morning flight to Vegas. Why Vegas you ask? Well today I escape my 9 to 5 job today to walk in an ETRO show with Saks Fifth Avenue!

It’s not everyday I get to be a real model, you know the ones that actually jet set and make runway and photoshoots a full-time gig, so when I get the opportunity I pounce! Today I  share my behind-the-scenes moments of what life is like as a model on the go and walking for ETRO and Saks.

Bridal Behavior

Here’s a behind the scenes look of me and my gorgeous gang at Tucson’s bridal show.

The Gift of Skulls by Fire & Bone

Hey Guys,

As I’m sure you all know, I love bears. The bear is truly my spirit animal, my nickname (Sarah Bear), and my entire inspiration for the Bearly Fashionable logo made by moi. Last week I was lucky enough to be gifted with what is fast becoming one of my all time favorite pieces of jewelry I own. To think, something so ferociously beautiful can come in such a quiet and simple box. I just had to share this awesome find with you guys and to all of us skull-loving style fans out there.

Okay so what the heck am I talking about?! Have you heard of Fire & Bone? Well you should, because they are making some of the most amazing jewelry out there right now that is both cool and affordable. They scale to size anatomically correct images of animals into a pendant either to wear or to showcase on a display for all to envy. They are truly unique and beautiful gifts that demand our attention. Make sure to check out the link above to their website for more details and ways to purchase one of your very own!

xx Rawr

P.S. Thanks Fire & Bone for inspiring my latest painting

Models On-Duty for Akris Spring and Pre-Fall Runway

An artist is somebody who produces things that people don’t need to have.

-Andy Warhol

Well Andy maybe we don’t need it, but gosh we certainly do want it and especially when ‘it’ is fashion! Which leads me into the exciting show that my fellow Agency Arizona models and I were able to be a part of just last weekend. The Phoenix Art Museum is opening their highly anticipated Andy Warhol exhibit March 4th and what better way to start the pop-art party than with a fashion show!

Arizona was treated to a Spring and Pre-Fall showcase of the Akris collections produced by Margaret Merritt Productions who teamed with Neiman Marcus to create this beautiful show.  It’s fair to say that they knocked it out of the park and left a major impression on all the guests and media.

From the moment you turn the corner of the infamous ‘bean’ at the art museum you are almost immediately halted by the army of wooden chairs which echoed a grandeur attitude of the night to come. The models rushed into the back halls where we waited for our cue to practice. Once our struts were dusted off it was onward to the hair and makeup chairs where I came ready to shoot my lovelies for model-on-duty moments. So here is a look of what happens behind the curtains of a runway show and all the hard work that gets put into these fabulous shows!

Style of the Day: A Cowboy and Bohemian Walk into a Bar

Hey Guys,

My mom was a child of the 60’s. She was that beautiful long golden haired girl who had the perfect middle part so iconic of the times. if it weren’t for the 18+ rule, she would have definitely been one of the many thousands participants of Wood Stock and danced in the mud as Janice poured her soul into the mic. Yeah, my mother is pretty cool. With her flower child spirit and love of dance I have always wanted to find the perfect outfit to give a proper nod to her past. This leads me to my Free People thrift dress I found at a going-out-of-business sale at a nearby Off Saks 5th Avenue.

I’m absolutely in love with this embroidered peasant dress. Free People is the perfect brand for all us hippie chicks and Coachella goers. I hope you like it just as much as I do. xx
